Dana White Hints at Major Fight Without Conor McGregor

Dana White, the head honcho of UFC, has made a few fascinating revelations. He’s not just assured fans about the return of Conor McGregor. He’s also spilled the beans on the possible planning of a show-stopping face-off. The interesting part? It doesn’t involve the Irish superstar.

McGregor, fondly known as “Notorious”, is sporting a 22-6 record. The fighter has been off the scene since a leg injury he sustained during a trilogy brawl with Dustin Poirier in July, last year. His main gig since the injury was a coaching stint for “The Ultimate Fighter”.

Talkin’ about careers hanging by a thread! McGregor’s comeback plans were initially projected for April 2024. Yet, it seems the fighter is having a tough time getting back on his feet. His coach, John Kavanagh, suggests Summer might be a more realistic timeline.

Not to lose heart, though! Dana White recently dropped some solid reassurances about McGregor’s return on the Full Send Podcast. An opponent remains unnamed for now, and the cherry on top? White highlighted how Michael Chandler, another fighter held in high regard, can afford to lay low without competing while waiting for McGregor.

What did White say again? Ah, got it. He said, “Yes, 100 percent. [McGregor] fights next year…We’ll see the timing of when that goes down. The good thing for guys like Chandler, and you know there’s a lot of sh*t talk about fighter pay and all that other sh*t – you don’t see these guys hurrying up to fight… Chandler can hang out and wait for f*cking Conor.”

McGregor’s past record (1-3 in his last four) hasn’t deterred his reputation. He’s still a prized fighter, thanks to the Dubliner’s charm and the decent paycheck that comes with fighting him. However, White has hinted at a possible high-profile match that doesn’t include McGregor.

“We’re talking about one right now, actually, that just popped up a few days ago. I can’t talk about it until we get everybody… well, every fight that you would consider a ‘super fight’ would involve McGregor but this one isn’t, no.” Hmmm? Sounds intriguing, doesn’t it?
