Dustin Poirier & Benoit St. Denis to Fight in UFC 299 Co-Main Event

So, here’s the deal. Dustin Poirier is set to face off with Benoit St. Denis. It’s gonna be a five-round co-headliner at UFC 299.

Dana White, the big boss of UFC, spilled the beans late Sunday evening. UFC 299 is happening on March 9 at the Kaseya Center in Miami.

But wait, there’s more. Sean O’Malley will be defending his bantamweight crown against Marlon Vera. Yeah, that’s the main event of the evening.

Now, let’s talk about Poirier. He’s had a bit of a rough patch recently. He’s lost two of his last three fights in the Octagon. In his only fight of 2023, “The Diamond” got knocked out in the second round. It was a rematch against Justin Gaethje at UFC 291 on July 29.

But don’t count him out just yet. The 34-year-old has had some impressive wins. He’s bested the likes of Michael Chandler, Conor McGregor (twice, mind you), Dan Hooker, Max Holloway, Eddie Alvarez, Gaethje, Anthony Pettis, and Jim Miller. That’s quite the list, isn’t it?

On the other side of the ring, we’ve got St. Denis. After a rough start with a loss against Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos, he’s bounced back. He’s got five consecutive wins under the UFC banner. And get this, he’s finished all his opponents inside the distance.

The 28-year-old Frenchman is on a roll. He recently scored a first-round knockout of Matt Frevola at UFC 295 on Nov. 11. “God of War” has also stopped Thiago Moises, Ismael Bonfim, Gabriel Miranda, and Niklas Stolze during his winning streak.

So, there you have it. It’s gonna be one heck of a fight.
