Well, folks, we’ve got a new welterweight matchup on the horizon. The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s Feb. 10 offering just got a bit more interesting. Max Griffin and Jeremiah Wells are set to duke it out.
The news was first broken by MMAFighting.com. Max Griffin, however, made it official with an Instagram post. Social media, amirite?
Griffin’s record stands at 19-10. His last four outings in the Octagon have been a bit of a mixed bag, with two wins and two losses. His most recent fight was a unanimous decision loss to the undefeated Ecuadorian prospect, Michael Morales. Tough break, eh?
But don’t count him out just yet. Griffin, also known as “Pain”, has some significant victories under his belt. He’s taken down former champion Carlos Condit and Mike Perry. Both were unanimous decision victories, mind you.
On the other side of the ring, we’ve got Jeremiah Wells. His record isn’t too shabby either, standing at 12-3. His last fight, however, was a Round 3 technical submission loss to Carlston Harris. Bit of a bummer, that.
But let’s not forget, before that loss, Wells was on a roll. The former Classic Entertainment and Sports welterweight champion had racked up four consecutive victories inside the Octagon. Impressive, no?
The UFC Fight Night card isn’t just about this welterweight matchup, though. The main event is a middleweight meeting between Jack Hermansson and Dana White’s Contender Series alum Joe Pyfer. And where’s all this action happening? The UFC Apex in Las Vegas, baby!
