Trey Ogden Seeks Win Bonus Following Early Stoppage at UFC Fight Night 232

Trey Ogden, a native of Missouri, has vocalized his desire to receive his full fight purse from UFC Fight Night 232. It appeared as though Ogden would triumph late in the third round against Nikolas Motta as he successfully sunk in a deep arm-triangle. Referee Mike Beltran ended up interrupting the fight after prompting Motta to react not just once, but twice, leading to an immediate protest from Motta himself. However, while the expectation was for Ogden to receive the win initially, the fight was declared a “no contest” upon further review.

The result meant both fighters were only eligible for their show money, even though it seemed that Ogden was en route to the win. In fact, two of the judges had scored the initial two rounds in his favor. Ogden reiterated his request for the full purse in his post-fight interview and during an interaction with the media after the fight.

During his interaction with the media, Ogden stated, “I’m just trying to keep my composure and be a professional. Life happens… I’m no stranger to adversity… But this one hurts. Records are records, numbers are numbers. But I really hope I get my win purse because I deserve it. I won all three rounds and with two minutes left in the fight, I’m in mount and in an arm triangle and the referee went on to stop the fight.” He added that despite the arm triangle’s outcome, he was in the mount and would have stayed there until the end of the fight, thereby securing the win and getting paid. He also mentioned the significant sacrifices involved in the sport for both himself and his family, and emphasized the financial aspects of these sacrifices.

Ogden’s record now stands at 1-2 with one no contest in the UFC. In his prior fight, he lost to Iganacio Bahamondes in a unanimous decision during UFC 287 on April 8.
