UFC Lightweight Tony Ferguson’s DUI Charge Dismissed After Plea Deal

Tony Ferguson, the renowned UFC lightweight star, recently had a misdemeanor DUI charge dismissed in the Superior Court of Los Angeles. This resolution was achieved after Ferguson consented to a plea deal. He pleaded nolo contendere to a misdemeanor charge of wet reckless driving on the highway. As part of the bargain, Ferguson has agreed to a one-year probation period, a ruling that Judge Shannon K. Cooley made on a Monday. The resolution of the case was first reported by MMAjunkie.com.

Earlier in May, Ferguson was arrested following claims of allegedly crashing his truck into two parked cars in Hollywood, California. Law enforcement officers booked Ferguson into jail after he refused to perform a field sobriety test. Some officers stated that Ferguson “reeked of alcohol” and possessed noticeable “bloodshot eyes”. At the initial phase of his case, Ferguson pleaded not guilty to the DUI charges. However, after posting bail, he was released on his own recognizance.

As conditions of his probation, Ferguson has agreed not to consume alcohol. Furthermore, he has pledged to cover the cost of the damages resulted from the accident in the form of restitution to the victim. Fans of the UFC star can expect to see him return to action soon. Ferguson is set to meet Paddy Pimblett in the Octagon once more at UFC 296, scheduled for Dec. 16 in Las Vegas. The upcoming match is significant for the 39-year-old Californian, who unfortunately has lost in six straight promotional appearances.
