UFC on ESPN 53 Adds Two New Fights, Chris Barnett Withdraws

Hey, fight fans! Big news just dropped for UFC on ESPN 53. The lineup’s got some fresh updates that’ll get your adrenaline pumping. Check it out here.

So, first things first. We’ve got a middleweight showdown that’s sure to grab your attention. Edmen Shahbazyan is squaring off against Dusko Tudorovic on March 23. You heard that right.

Now, Shahbazyan? The dude was a beast right out of the gate in the UFC. At just 20, he stormed in, racking up wins left and right. Four straight victories, including three that didn’t even make it past the first round. But, it hasn’t been all sunshine and rainbows lately. He’s hit a rough patch, losing four out of his last five. Still, those losses? They’re against some of the best in the business.

On the flip side, Tudorovic’s had a bit of a rollercoaster ride in the UFC since his 2020 debut. His record’s a mixed bag at 3-4. The guy’s last fight? Not his best moment, with a knee injury handing him a first-round TKO loss to Chris Leroy Duncan this March.

But wait, there’s more. The heavyweights are getting in on the action too. Junior Tafa and Karl Williams, both new blood in the UFC, are set to throw down.

Tafa kicked off his pro career on fire, with four straight finishes. Then, he hit a snag against Mohammed Usman in his UFC debut last April. Bounced back, though, with a jaw-dropping Round 1 KO of Parker Porter in August. Talk about a comeback.

Williams, on the other hand, punched his ticket to the UFC with a win on Dana White’s Contender Series 2022. Since then? The guy’s been on a roll, notching two decision wins to kickstart his UFC journey.

Oh, and there’s a bit of a bummer for Chris Barnett fans. He was all set to face Usman, yeah, Kamaru Usman’s brother. But, no dice. Barnett’s out for reasons we’re not privy to. Stepping up is Michael Parkin, undefeated and ready to make a splash.

Usman’s been tearing it up since his UFC debut, stacking wins. Parkin’s not far behind, with a couple of decision victories under his belt after a slick submission win last August.

And the cherry on top? UFC on ESPN 53 is going down at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, headlined by Amanda Ribas vs. Rose Namajunas. A women’s flyweight clash you won’t want to miss.

So, there you have it. A quick rundown of what’s shaping up to be an epic night of fights. Can’t wait to see how it all unfolds. See you at the Apex!
