Alex Pereira, Weili Zhang Keep Titles at Historic UFC 300

Alex Pereira’s power is something else, isn’t it? Just ask Jamahal Hill, who felt it firsthand under the glaring Vegas lights at UFC 300. Pereira kept his light heavyweight crown, stunning Hill early in Round 1. It was over at 3:14. Impressive, right?

Hill tried, throwing back leg kicks at Pereira. But, honestly, it was like throwing pebbles at a tank. Pereira, cool as the other side of the pillow, just kept jabbing and stalking. Even a low blow couldn’t shake him. Moments later, Hill was on the ground, wondering what hit him. Pereira’s left hook, that’s what.

Switching gears, Weili Zhang had her hands full with Xiaonan Yan. It was a historic fight, the first UFC title match between two Chinese fighters. Zhang showed her class, though, taking a unanimous decision after five rounds. The judges all saw it 49-45. Tough night for Yan, but she had her moments, knocking Zhang off balance more than once.

Now, about Max Holloway and Justin Gaethje. What a fight! Holloway’s right hook at the very end of Round 5 was something out of a movie. Gaethje, always a warrior, just couldn’t keep up with Holloway’s pace. Despite a broken nose and a barrage of leg kicks, Gaethje’s spirit never wavered. But that last-second knockout? Pure drama.

Arman Tsarukyan and Charles Oliveira gave us a chess match. Tsarukyan managed to escape Oliveira’s deadly chokes, not once but twice. The judges were split, but Tsarukyan got the nod. Oliveira’s guard was neutralized, and Tsarukyan’s elbows left a mark. Literally.

Bo Nickal? The guy’s a beast. Cody Brundage found out the hard way, tapping out to a rear-naked choke in Round 2. Nickal’s wrestling pedigree shone through, dominating from start to finish. Brundage had a glimmer of hope in the second round, but Nickal was just too much.

So, there you have it. UFC 300 was one for the books. Pereira, Zhang, Holloway, Tsarukyan, and Nickal all left their mark. And we’re just getting started.
