Bassil Hafez, a newcomer in the welterweight category, is poised to take on Preston Parsons at an Ultimate Fighting Championship fight night event scheduled for January 13. This information has been confirmed by multiple sources to myself and Mike Heck JR and the full story is soon to be released on MMA Fighting, as Damon Martin, a renowned MMA Fighting Reporter, tweeted on October 7, 2023.
Hafez, currently standing at 8-4, is getting ready for his second Octagon bout following his debut earlier this year fighting against the acclaimed prospect, Jack Della Maddalena. Hafez, better known as “The Habibi”, was a +525 underdog going into that match-up but surprisingly led to an extremely close Fight of the Night split decision against Maddalena.
On the other hand, Parsons kickstarted his UFC journey in 2021 on the back of four sequential submission wins. Known by his nickname “Pressure”, Parsons had a rocky start with a Round 1 knockout loss against the solid contender, Daniel Rodriguez. However, he managed to recover impressively with a decision win over Evan Elder, but later dropped a split decision to Trevin Giles in his latest match held in March.
