Dana White sat down with the media after the UFC 295 event which was held at Madison Square Garden in New York City. He spoke about the event which marked the 30th anniversary of the Ultimate Fighting Championship and was filled with exciting matches and two title fights. According to White, the UFC now holds the record for the three largest live gates at Madison Square Garden. White emphasized the importance of the 30th anniversary, particularly in New York, which only approved mixed martial arts in 2016. White said, “I was thinking about this earlier… the corruption that kept us out of New York city for so long. For us to come in here in just seven years. You think about this historic arena, this incredible city and for us to be number one two and three all time on our 30th and great card tonight, great fights, great crowd. You couldn’t really button up a 30th anniversary any better tonight.”
During his interaction with media, Dana White discussed several topics, providing his take on the fights of the night, future UFC events and more. He addressed Jiri Prochazka’s fight against Alex Pereira in their main event meetimg saying, “If [Prochazka] says it’s not, it’s definitely not.” He openly admired Pereira’s accomplishments and hinted that a fight with Adesanya may be on the cards. Speaking of Tom Aspinall’s match against Sergei Pavlovich, White noted, “Both those guys stepping up, taking it on short notice and both big heavy hitters. That could’ve gone either way and Aspinall got it.”
White went on to discuss a potential title fight involving Aspinall, stating that it was a possibility in either Spain, UK, or France. When questioned on the future course for Stipe Miocic and Jon Jones, White responded that both deserved the bout they wanted. He spoke highly of Jones’s proactive approach to his injuries, mentioning Jones already being in rehab after his surgery in LA. He also referred to Aspinall as a future great owing to his performances and his potential for absolute greatness based on what he had heard about his gym sessions.
