The UFC announced on Thursday that Erin Blanchfield and Manon Fiorot will face off. It’s a critical women’s flyweight pairing set for March 30. Still, it’s unclear whether this matchup will be the main event for the unnumbered UFC on ESPN card.
This event is slated to happen at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Interestingly, it’s the first bout announced for this event.
Erin Blanchfield has been on a roll since a controversial split decision loss at Invicta FC 34 to fellow future UFC fighter, Tracy Cortez. She’s been unstoppable, racking up nine straight wins. That’s six consecutive victories in the Octagon, folks!
She’s taken down big names like J.J. Aldrich, Molly McCann, and Jessica Andrade—all by submission. She’s been climbing up the divisional ladder, and her latest win was a unanimous verdict over former title challenger Taila Santos.
But let’s not forget about Manon Fiorot. The French fighter has also been on a winning streak, with 11 consecutive victories. Her only professional defeat was a close split decision, just like Blanchfield, to current featherweight Leah McCourt.
Fiorot has also claimed six straight wins in the UFC. However, her last four victories were by decision. She’s proven herself against top talents like Mayra Bueno Silva, Jennifer Maia, Katlyn Chookagian, and Rose Namajunas. With these wins, she’s established herself as a top contender in the 125-pound division.
