Former UFC Champ Jamahal Hill Comments on Brother’s Alleged Assault

So, Jamahal Hill has finally spoken up about his recent arrest. He’s been accused of assaulting a family member, no less.

He was taken into custody in Michigan, charged with misdemeanor aggravated domestic violence. The alleged victim? His own brother, James Anthony Hill Jr.

The former UFC light heavyweight champion didn’t say much, though. He put out a brief statement on his YouTube channel about the whole ordeal.

Hill said, “There’s been a lot of reports out today about the situation that happened when I was back home in Michigan, visiting for the holidays.” He didn’t give much away, though. “At this time it is an open case. I’ve been advised not to speak on it, which I know not to speak on it.”

He’s clearly eager for his day in court. “I just can’t wait for the truth to be told in court. I will wait for that day and I look forward to that day.” He asked his supporters to keep faith in him. “The people who know me and know my character and truly, truly rock with me and know who I am, hold onto that and stay true to that. That’s all I’m a say on that.”

The specifics of the case are still under wraps due to its ongoing nature. Hill is slated to appear in court sometime in January.

Brian Butler, Hill’s representative, also had something to say about the situation. He released a statement on the fighter’s behalf over the weekend.

Butler wasn’t too happy about the media coverage. He said, “The recent ‘click bait’ headlines about Jamahal Hill were based on an alleged dispute between him and his older brother.” He maintained Hill’s innocence. “Jamahal adamantly maintains his innocence and denies the false accusations. We will not be commenting anymore about this until the truth comes out in court.”

Hill’s professional life has been a rollercoaster, too. He won the vacant light heavyweight belt with a unanimous decision victory over Glover Teixeira at UFC 283 on Jan. 21. But then, he had to give up the belt in July after a ruptured Achilles tendon. His UFC record is 6-1, with four victories coming inside the distance.
