The journey to recovery is just kicking off for Jan Blachowicz. It’s a long road ahead, no doubt.
An ad pops up here – ignore it.
The former light heavyweight champ had to bow out from a rematch against Aleksandar Rakic at UFC 297. Reason? A shoulder injury that needed surgery. Turns out, it’s not just one surgery he needs. It’s two.
Blachowicz shared an update on social media. He said, “First shoulder operated on.” But there was a hitch. “Unfortunately, there was too much work to do with one, so they couldn’t fix both at once.” So, another surgery is on the cards. He added, “I’ll have to wait a little bit longer to come back.”
He also wished everyone a Merry Christmas. Nice touch, right?
As for when he’ll be back? That’s up in the air. He didn’t give a date for his second surgery. Blachowicz, who’s hitting 41 in February, has had a mixed bag in his last four promotional outings. He’s at 1-2-1. His most recent fight was a split verdict loss to Alex Pereira at UFC 291 in July.
As for Rakic? He’s been moved to UFC 300. He’s set to face former 205-pound champ Jiri Prochazka on April 13.
