Gilbert Burns threw some shade at Belal Muhammad, calling him unworthy of a title shot. Why? He’s not a fan of “Remember The Name.”
Advertisement break here, folks.
Despite Muhammad’s impressive 10-fight unbeaten streak, including a win over Burns, the welterweight title shot remains elusive. Burns had his reasons, but Muhammad wasn’t having any of it.
But wait, there’s a twist. “Durinho” is now singing a different tune, even dishing out an apology to Muhammad. Turns out, Burns’ beef was more about Muhammad’s trash talk post-fight.
On Renato Carneiro’s YouTube channel, Burns spilled the beans. “Belal Muhammad deserves to fight for the title,” he admitted. With a winning streak like Muhammad’s, Burns thinks he’s earned it.
Burns confessed, “That guy beat me. I got hurt,” and Muhammad’s gloating didn’t sit well with him. But, he regrets how he expressed it. Despite not liking Muhammad much, Burns believes he deserves a shot at the title.
However, Burns isn’t sure if Muhammad will get his chance at UFC 300. The Schmo reported that Muhammad’s name wasn’t on the list of potential opponents for champ Leon Edwards.
“I lost to the guy, I was injured,” Burns reflected. He doesn’t hate Muhammad but isn’t a fan either, especially after Muhammad’s comments post-fight. Still, Burns wishes him the best and believes he deserves the title shot. But, it’s up to the UFC, and Dana White’s recent comments have left some doubts.
In other news, Burns is gearing up for his next fight. He’s set to face Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 299 in Miami. Maddalena is on a hot streak, undefeated since 2016 with six UFC wins under his belt.
