So, it looks like Israel Adesanya’s break from the ring might be wrapping up soon. That’s right, the former UFC middleweight champ is hinting at a comeback.
In a recent chinwag with iFL TV, he dropped some hints about his next appearance in the Octagon. It seems like it might be just around the corner.
Adesanya’s words? “Me right now, I’m taking my time.” He’s been busy, you see. He’s had four fights in just 14 months as a UFC champ. That’s something you don’t hear every day. He was the most active champ in the league, not just a fighter.
But life’s thrown him a curveball, forcing him to take a breather. However, he assures us, “you will see me soon.” He even joked about not returning until 2027, but don’t worry, he didn’t mean it.
Remember, Adesanya’s last fight was a bit of a shocker. He lost to Sean Strickland in a 185-pound title bout at UFC 293 last September. After that, “The Last Stylebender” hinted he might be out of the game “for a long time.”
Before this, Adesanya was on a roll. He went undefeated in his first 12 UFC middleweight appearances. But then, he lost two of his last three fights against Alex Pereira and Strickland.
Strickland is set to defend the middleweight belt against Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 297. So, it’s unlikely that Adesanya will get an immediate rematch when he does return. But hey, who knows what the future holds?
