Oh boy, Michael Page really can’t stand Colby Covington’s shenanigans outside the ring. He’s itching to give “Chaos” a piece of his mind, or rather, his foot, right in the face.
Covington, known for his trash talk, has ruffled quite a few feathers over the years. He even got under Jorge Masvidal’s skin so much that Masvidal landed a sucker punch on him outside a Miami steakhouse. That was after their brawl at UFC 272.
Page, fresh in the UFC scene last month, comes from a lifelong dedication to martial arts. He’s all about the discipline, which makes Covington’s wild trash talk even more grating to him.
“Venom” didn’t hold back on his feelings about Covington. On a recent episode of UFC Day Off, he laid it all out. “I hate this guy,” he declared, dreaming of the day he can kick Covington in the face. He finds Covington’s antics fake and distasteful, especially when fighters start attacking each other’s families. That’s a line Page believes shouldn’t be crossed, staying true to his martial arts roots.
Covington, on the other hand, is trying to bounce back from a tough unanimous decision loss to Leon Edwards at UFC 296 in December 2023. With a recent record of 2-2, and both wins against fighters no longer in the promotion, he’s at a crossroads.
Meanwhile, Page is riding high from his unanimous decision victory over Kevin Holland at UFC 299. His debut was nothing short of spectacular, putting him on the UFC’s watchlist for the upcoming UFC 304 in Manchester. Despite his eagerness to fight again, he’s hinted at a shortage of willing opponents. Suddenly, everyone’s nursing a hamstring injury or some other ailment when his name comes up.
“I feel fresh after my last fight, more than willing to go,” he said, eyeing a spot on the UFC 304 card. But who will step up to face him? That remains the million-dollar question.
