Muhammad Mokaev is convinced he’s earned his shot at the title. This comes after his victory over Alex Perez at UFC Fight Night 238.
He managed to secure three takedowns out of twenty attempts. It was a tough match, but he won by decision. Interestingly, Mokaev shared that he wasn’t feeling well that morning. Despite feeling under the weather, he credits his team, KHK MMA, for their support.
“I was very sick this morning,” he admitted. Yet, his team stood by him, helping him make it to the Octagon.
Mokaev’s record remains unbeaten. However, this fight with Perez was perhaps his most challenging yet. While grappling proved difficult, Mokaev was pleased to showcase his striking skills.
He pointed out, “Everyone expects wrestling from me.” But then he added, “Tonight, I showed more than six strikes.” It’s a change from his usual strategy, and he’s proud of it. “Hey, 6-0 in the UFC, with four finishes,” he boasted. Mokaev is eyeing a title fight at UFC 301, just 10 weeks away. “Hey Dana, Hunter, Mick, give me this chance,” he calls out to the UFC brass.
Whether Mokaev gets his title shot might depend on the availability of other flyweight contenders. UFC 301 is on the horizon, where Alexandre Pantoja is expected to defend his title in Rio de Janeiro.
Mokaev didn’t just talk about fighting. He also took a moment to address British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. His comments on Gaza protests in the U.K. have been controversial. “Free genocide. Rishi Sunak, stop genocide,” Mokaev declared. He urged the Prime Minister to halt the violence, especially during Ramadan, emphasizing the impact on children.
So, there you have it. Mokaev’s mix of fight talk and political commentary certainly keeps things interesting.
