Neal Pulls Out of UFC 292; Magny Replaces Him to Fight Garry

UFC 292 has experienced another setback, as Geoff Neal has withdrawn from his scheduled fight against Ian Garry on August 19 due to undisclosed health issues. Garry posted a video on social media expressing his reaction to Neal’s exit from the card. The event, taking place at the TD Garden in Boston, features a bantamweight championship headliner between Aljamain Sterling and Sean O’Malley. Neal is not the only athlete to withdraw from the event for various reasons, joining the likes of Henry Cejudo, Rob Font, and Yadong Song.

Neil Magny Steps In

On Wednesday evening, MMAjunkie.com reported that Neil Magny will replace Neal to face Garry at UFC 292. The 36-year-old Magny is coming off a split-decision victory against Philip Rowe at UFC on ABC 5 on June 24. With a 21-9 record in UFC competition, Magny is the all-time wins leader for the promotion at welterweight.

Ian Garry: A Rising Prospect

Considered one of the top prospects at 170 pounds, Irish fighter Ian Garry is undefeated in 12 professional bouts, including five in the UFC. Garry last appeared at UFC on ABC 4, where he scored a first-round TKO victory over Daniel Rodriguez.

Geoff Neal, 32, had his two-fight winning streak come to an end in his last outing. He suffered a third-round submission defeat to Shavkat Rakhmonov at UFC 285 on March 4. Neal holds a 7-3 record during his promotional tenure, with notable wins over Vicente Luque, Santiago Ponzinibbio, Mike Perry, and Belal Muhammad.
