Paddy Pimblett has a soft spot for his upcoming opponent, Tony Ferguson. He’d love to see the guy get back on the winning track. But not at his own cost, no sir.
There’s an ad here, but let’s skip that. It’s not why you’re here, right?
Pimblett’s got a fight coming up, you see. It’s at UFC 296 this Saturday. The guy’s been on the bench for a year due to an injury. And not just any injury. The kind that gets worse in a fight, like his last one against Jared Gooden. The kind that needs surgery.
But don’t let that fool ya. “The Baddy” hasn’t lost in his last six fights, four of them in the UFC. Ferguson, on the other hand, hasn’t been so lucky. Lost six straight, poor guy.
Ferguson used to be a big deal. People thought he was the only one who could take down Khabib Nurmagomedov. But then he took a beating from Justin Gaethje in 2020, and he hasn’t been the same since.
Pimblett, though, he’s still a fan of Ferguson. Wants the former interim champ to get one more win before he hangs up his gloves. But the 28-year-old Liverpudlian can’t let it happen in their upcoming clash on Dec. 16.
Pimblett’s got a lot of respect for Ferguson. Thinks he’s one of the Top 5 lightweights of all time. Even Pimblett wants Ferguson to get a win and then retire. But he can’t let it happen at his expense.
He’s going into the fight expecting the best version of Ferguson. The one that showed up against Donald Cerrone and Anthony Pettis. Not the slow one that fought Bobby Green. He’s expecting the best Tony. And he thinks it’s gonna be an absolute honor to share the cage with him.
