Oh boy, Raul Rosas Jr. had a bit of a rough patch recently. The young gun was all set to light up the UFC Mexico stage against Ricky Turcios. But, fate had other plans.
Just when the anticipation was sky-high, Rosas Jr. had to step back. Literally, right before making his walkout. Talk about bad timing, huh?
Turns out, the dude was battling some nasty bugs. We’re talking dizziness, a head that felt lighter than a feather, and a cough that just wouldn’t quit. Despite his best efforts to shake it off and get in the ring, his body just wasn’t having any of it.
In his own words on Instagram, Rosas Jr. was like, “Sorry, folks. Really didn’t wanna bail, but I felt like crap.” He even got all wrapped up and tried warming up, hoping to power through. But nah, it was a no-go.
He’s pretty bummed about it, too. Made it clear he’s not the type to back down unless it’s absolutely necessary. And he’s already eyeing a comeback. So, watch this space.
Before this hiccup, Rosas Jr. was riding high off a Round 1 TKO victory over Terrence Mitchell last September. As for Turcios, he’s not been idle either, snagging a split decision win against Kevin Natividad in November 2022.
There was some chatter about rescheduling the fight for UFC Fight Night 238 in March. But, Turcios threw a bit of a curveball, suggesting that might not be happening after all. So, the saga continues. Stay tuned, folks.
