Big news, folks! Raul Rosas Jr. and Ricky Turcios are set to clash again. This time, it’s scheduled for #UFCVegas87 on March 2 in the heart of Las Vegas. Check it out here: https://www.sherdog.com/news/news/Ricky-Turcios-Disputes-Rebooking-Announcement-for-Raul-Rosas-Jr-Fight-192752.
UFC News dropped this bomb on Twitter on February 25, 2024. But wait, there’s a twist in the tale.
Ricky Turcios threw a curveball our way. He’s saying, “Hold up, nothing’s set in stone yet.” Despite the buzz about their fight being rebooked after a last-minute cancellation at UFC Fight Night 237, Turcios is playing it cool. He insists there’s no confirmation on a rematch with Rosas Jr. yet. Drama, much?
Originally, these two were supposed to throw down in a bantamweight bout last Saturday. But, plot twist – Rosas Jr. got sick right before showtime. The broadcast team was like, “Sorry, folks, no fight tonight.”
But here’s where it gets juicy. The UFC was all, “Let’s try this again next week at UFC Fight Night 238, March 2.” And they even decided to make it a catchweight bout so the fighters wouldn’t have to cut weight again. Talk about a quick turnaround!
However, Turcios is calling BS. He blasted out a since-deleted Instagram post labeling the rebooked fight as “fake news.”
“FAKE NEWS. No fight contract has been signed yet for a new date,” he vented on Instagram. He didn’t hold back, saying Rosas Jr. bailed on their fight last minute, leaving him hanging in front of thousands in Mexico City. According to Turcios, Rosas Jr.’s move was a slap in the face to the Bushido code. Ouch.
As for their track records, both fighters have had their ups and downs in the UFC. Turcios has a record of 2-1, bouncing back from a unanimous decision loss with two split-decision wins. Rosas Jr. matches that 2-1 scorecard in the promotion.
So, what’s next for these two? Will they finally face off in the Octagon, or is this just another chapter in their ongoing saga? Stay tuned, fight fans.
