Tim Elliott’s got a new gig. He’s taking his next Ultimate Fighting Championship assignment on less than a week’s notice. Talk about short notice, huh?
But who’s he replacing? It’s none other than the former flyweight challenger, Allan Nascimento. Yep, Elliott’s stepping in for him. He’ll be locking horns with Su Mudaerji at UFC Fight Night 233. It’s happening this Saturday.
Elliott confirmed the news on social media. The switch-up was first reported by Patrick McCorry. Ag.Fight also brought word of Nascimento’s withdrawal. The Elliott vs. Mudaerji face-off will be a bantamweight contest.
Where’s all this going down? UFC Fight Night 233 is set to take place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The main event? A bantamweight scrap between Yadong Song and Chris Gutierrez. You can catch the main card on ESPN+ at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT. If you’re into prelims, they’ll stream on ESPN+ beginning at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.
Elliott’s making a quick comeback. He suffered a third-round submission defeat to Muhammad Mokaev at UFC 294 on Oct. 21. But don’t count him out just yet. Before that, the “The Ultimate Fighter 24” winner had been victorious in four of his previous five Octagon appearances.
As for Mudaerji, his last outing didn’t go so well. He had a three-bout winning streak snapped when he fell to Matt Schnell via second-round submission at UFC on ABC 3 in July 2022. But hey, that’s the fight game for ya.
