UFC 82 is officially in the books. ‘Pride of a Champion’-led card took place at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, 15 years ago. The ten-fight-event featured some nice scraps and a several of nice finishes, punctuated by Anderson Silva’s Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) victory over Dan Henderson. In the co-main event, Heath Herring defeated Cheick Kongo in round 3 by Decision (Split).
UFC 82 bonus awards
Traditionally, UFC has handed out bonuses for Fight of the Night, Submission of the Night, and Knockout of the Night. The bonuses ranged from $20,000 up to $120,000. In 2014, the promotion has announced the Performance of the Night bonuses will replace the existing Knockout and Submission of the Night awards. The bonuses will be $50,000 each. There are two types of awards:
- Fight of the Night is awarded to both fighters in the most exciting fight of the night.
- Performance of the Night is awarded to fighters who put on the most thrilling individual performance.
