Taila Santos, one of the top female flyweights in the world, is no longer part of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) roster. She was released by the Las Vegas-based promotion following consecutive losses. News of her release was first shared on social media by UFC Roster Tracker and later confirmed by multiple outlets. According to MMAjunkie.com, Santos still had a few fights left on her contract when it was terminated.
Santos, who featured on the Brazilian edition of Dana White’s series in 2018, had a mixed record in UFC competition, notching up a 4-3 mark. A member of the Astra Fight Team, Santos bagged four straight victories from 2020 to 2021, earning her a shot at the title. She made a mark for her competitiveness when she narrowly lost to then-champion Valentina Shevchenko at UFC 275.
Most recently, Santos, a 30-year-old Brazilian, endured a unanimous decision defeat against Erin Blanchfield at UFC Fight Night 225 in August. Over the course of her career, Santos has a 19-3 record to her name, with notable victories over competitors including Joanne Wood, Roxanne Modafferi, Gillian Robertson, and Molly McCann.
